Has Spielberg Found HIs Superhero?
Steven Spielberg is finally throwing his hat into the superhero ring – and it’s for DC, via his Ready Player One studio, Warner Bros.
The bearded one has just attached himself to Blackhawk, a WWII comic (in part created by Will Eisner) based around a team of heroic Nazi-fighting pilots.
Warners chairman Toby Emmerich had this to say - “We are so proud to be the studio behind Steven Spielberg’s latest hit, and are thrilled to be working with him again on this new action adventure. We can’t wait to see what new ground he will break in introducing ‘Blackhawk’ to movie audiences worldwide.”
Spielberg meanwhile chimed in with this - “It was wonderful working with the team at Warner Bros. to bring ‘Ready Player One’ to the screen. They bring a blend of passion and professionalism to everything they do and have a tremendous history in this genre. I am excited to reunite with them on ‘Blackhawk.'” And blah.
The filmmaker is currently attached as producer, working on a script from his regular collaborator David Koepp. The hope is that he will also direct, but at present, Blackhawk will have to get in line behind Indy 5 and (possibly) his West Side Story remake.
