Boyle, Bond & Curtis - Danny's Doing Both!
For a while it was Bond. Then it was Curtis. Now it looks like it’s both.
Recent news reached us that Danny Boyle was teaming up with Richard Curtis for a comedy that might be a musical, that might be set in the 1960s. Or might be set in the 1970s. And might well feature the music of The Beatles. And (latest rumour) might star the ever-brilliant Lily James.
All of which made it unlikely that he would be in a position to helm Bond 25, despite working on a script for it with Trainspotting screenwriter (and sometimes doctor) John Hodge.
However, it now appears that Boyle is to take a leaf out of Spielberg’s book and do them both at more or less the same time. Here’s what he told Metro US whilst out plugging his upcoming TV take on the Getty kidnapping, Trust -
“We are working on a script (for Bond) right now. And it all depends on that really. I am working on a Richard Curtis script at the moment. We hope to start shooting that in 6 or 7 weeks. Then Bond would be right at the end of the year. But we are working on them both right now.”
So good news all round – except for Boyle who is soon going to be very, very tired.
Bond 25 (whatever it ends up being called) opens November 2019
The Other One (whatever it ends up being called) opens – who knows?
