Cannes Announces

We already knew that Ashgar Farhadi’s latest was opening and that Solo was getting its world debut out of competition. And yesterday brought the news that Netflix was walking, withholding all of it potential titles – including  Alfonso Cuaraon’s latest and the much anticipated debut of Orson Welles’ finally completed The Other Side Of The Wind – due to an on-going dispute with the competition. We also knew that Terry Gilliam’s The Man Who Killed Don Quixote was unlikely to show due to legal wrangles with one of its producers, and Woody Allen’s A Rainy Day In New York was also unlikely due to all that on-going nonsense, and Timothee Chalamet being a dick.

Well, just a short while ago, Festival runner Thierry Fremaux unveiled the full line up and it’s an eclectic mix, short on American titles, but big on names like Pawel Pawlikowski, Jean Luc Goddard, Spike Lee, Wim Wenders and more.

The Cannes Film Festival 2018 runs from May 8 to 19, and here’s the complete list -
