Bond-Watch Day 31 - And The Winner Is...

31 days since Boyle bolted and the powers that be at EON have announced his replacement. And it's Cary Fukunaga. Fukunaga is having a busy week, with his new limited series Maniac about to drop on Netflix tomorrow. Of all the rumoured directors who were recently said to be meeting with Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, Fukunaga's nme was not on the list, so this comes as something of a surprise, but given his sterling work on the brilliant first series of True Detective a few years back, we're pretty pleased with this choice.

As previously presumed, the Boyle/John Hodge script has been abandoned and Bond vets Purvis and Wade are back on scripting duties.

Boyle's depature and the ensuing chaos has resulted in a slight delay for Bond 25 - shooting, which was due to start this November (at Pinewood, of course), will now start on March 4 next year, with the movie's release date moving from October 2019 to Valentine's Day 2020.
