Cameron's Long Cherished Manga Finally Shows Up

James Cameron has been planning on bringing the acclaimed manga Alita Battle Angel to the big screen for quite some time now. But various Avatars and the like (not to mention his TV show Dark Angel which seemed to mine some of this material) had kept the project on his perennial back burner. Faced with four more Avatars (which no one wants to see - why Jim? WHY???) Cameron decided to finally hand the reigns over to Robert Rodriguez, who kind of needs to prove himself again after such recent fails as Machete Kills and A Dame To Kill For.

Here’s our first look at next summer’s tale of Rosa Salazar’s 26th century amnesiac cyborg. The realisation of Cameron’s long-held dream? Or the new Ghost In The Shell??

Either way, Christoph Waltz, Ed Skrein, Michelle Rodriguez, Jackie Earl Haley, Jennifer Connelly and Mahershala Ali are all involved.
