Song Of The Week - All Pauls Day Part 2 - Paul Simon - Rene And Georgette Magritte With Their Dog After The War
Both in their 76th year, Messers McCartney and Simon are still producing vital new work, both releasing new albums on this very day.
Ever the perfectionist, Simon’s In The Blue Light takes ten of his less valued songs and sonically reworks them in the hope that his fans will appreciate his work even more than they already do. (Honestly, the man must be a nightmare to live with, Edie!) One of those is this very beautiful take on when surrealist art met the glory of do wop, showcased in its new baroque quartet arrangement on Simon’s recent farewell tour. (Yes, we were there.) And here’s a chance to gawp at the rarely seen original video for the song, also featuring his then wife, the late Carrie Fisher.
Hit “Play” already. Damn!
