Song Of The Week - Tom Petty - Free Fallin'

We don’t often do obituaries here at Last Word – so we’re not doing one now. But the fact is several of the team here saw Tom Petty and his Heartbreakers just a couple of months back on a glorious summer’s afternoon in London’s Hyde Park, where they played an absolutely storming set, ending, as well they should, with the timelessly brilliant, none-more-jangly American Girl (you know - the love theme from Silence Of The Lambs.)

News that Petty has just died at the ridiculously young age of 66 sees him restored to our Song Of The Week spot – and not for the first time.

If you need a movie connection, the man also acted in such films as Alan Rudolph’s Made In Heaven and Kevin Costner’s The Postman. Need some more? Just think of Tom Cruise singing his heart out in Jerry Maguire when you play this.

Charlie T. Wilbury Jr – RIP

Hit “Play” already. Damn!
