The Queen Gets Tattooed
Because dead horses must be flogged…There are three perfectly decent Swedish-Danish adaptations of Stieg Larsson’s Millenium Trilogy/”Girl” novels already out there. David Fincher tried to bring them to the masses - and managed to add little. But the life of punk hacker Lisbeth Salander remains a going concern.
To be fair, the movie world is not to blame. This new adaptation is based on The Girl In The Spider’s Web – the literary world’s first attempt to keep Larsson’s work alive, written as it was by David Lagercrantz, years after the original author’s death. Evil Dead remaker Fede Alvarez steps into Fincher’s shoes, with The Crown’s Clare Foy taking on the mantel of Lisbeth, from Rooney Mara and Noomi Rapace both. Remains to be seen.
The Girl In The Spider's Web opens October 19
