And The New Batman Is...UPDATED - Yes, It's R-Batz

UPDATE - After rumours of screen testing Nicholas Hoult as well, Warners have confirmed that Robert Pattinson has landed bagged the title role in Matt Reeves' The Batman. No word on when filming will begin - Pattinson has to finish up his lead in Chris Nola's latest, Tenet, first.

ORIGINAL POST - So with Ben Affleck having hung up the cape, speculation has been rife for months over who will take on the mantle of The Dark Knight, in Matt Reeves’ upcoming noir-tinged The Batman. This morning, Variety announced that Robert Pattinson will be the new Bruce Wayne et al…only for Deadline to state mere minutes later that this may not be the case, and that Warners were still very keen on Nicolas Hoult. Either way one of two Brits is likely to be soon announced as following in the footsteps of fellow Brit, Christian Bale. What is it with those Americans? Just not batty enough to play The Bat?

Pattinson is looking the more likely of the two at the moment – should he need any further tips on the role, it’s convenient that he’s just about to start shooting Christopher Nolan’s new still untitled movie.

The Batman flies in through the window on June 25, 2021 (and we’ll definitely know by then who’s playing him!)
