Directors' Shorts - Damien Chazelle - Whiplash

Welcome back to our occasional series of peeks at Directors’ Shorts. This time it’s Damien Chazelle, whose film Whiplash picked up three Oscars last week. The reason Chazelle’ s screenplay wasn’t eligible for the Best Original and found itself in the Adapted category is this – a short the writer-director made to help fund the rest of the movie. No Miles Teller, but we do have J K Simmons trying his multi-award winning role on for size. And boy does it fit.

So have a look at the short version of Whiplash and you’ll see that the apple that is the full movie didn’t fall too far from this tree.
