And In "Bo Rap Made So Much Money We Want Some Of That Too" News Today...
It was, of course, inevitable. With Bohemian Rhapsody having already amassed $820 million-plus and possibly on its way to the big billion mark following its large haul of awards noms and wins, others would follow. So news reaches us that Johnny Flynn, recently making a name for himself in the likes of Beast and TV’s latest Les Mis, will play David Bowie in Stardust. The film will apparently follow the early days of The Dame to be on his first major American visit in the early ‘70s on the cusp of bringing Ziggy Stardust to life.
Flynn is also an accomplished musician so he feels like good casting here. Whether the production (due to shoot this summer) secures the rights to any of Bowie’s catalogue remains to be seen. It could so easily be less Bo Rap and more another Jimi: All Is By My Side.
Celine Dion, meanwhile, has ensured that her just-announced biopic, The Power Of Love, does indeed have access to all her songs, although being a French language film it is unlikely to reap the financial rewards of the Queen extravaganza.
Get in line now – after the success of the Freddie flick, there will undoubtedly be a slew of pop biopics coming our way anytime soon.
